THE BEST SUSHI SPOTS IN ORLANDO

Lent season is here, which means we can only eat fish on Fridays until Easter - but I’m not complaining. Give me sushi all day, every day, for the rest of my life, and I’ll be perfectly happy. James and Addison, on the other hand, might not be. How did I get so lucky? I’m obsessed with sushi, yet I spend my time with two men who could literally die by ingesting the world’s greatest food.

So, while they sit on the sidelines (or order chicken teriyaki for the hundredth time), I’m over here exploring Orlando’s best sushi spots (and some include happy hour too). If you’re like me and can’t get enough of fresh nigiri, creative rolls, and perfect sticky rice, here are my top picks you need to try:

KABOOKI SUSHI

It’s not hard putting this one on the top of my list. Kabooki sushi is most definitely a local favorite with two locations, one on East Colonial and the other on Sand Lake. If you’re looking for next level sushi, or even want some really good spicy edamame, Kabooki is your go-to spot. Even a simple spicy tuna roll is amazing.

SUSHI KATANA

This is going to be weird to say, especially when James is deathly allergic, but he actually introduced me to this place. You’re probably wondering, how does James, who is extremely allergic to all fish, know about one of the best sushi restaurants? Okay, so long story short, his managers actually took him here for his birthday lunch last year. Of course, he ordered chicken teriyaki (shocking), but his managers were kind enough to send him home with some sushi for me. Usually, I refuse to eat leftover sushi, but when I did — my jaw dropped to the floor. It was unbelievably delicious. I’m pretty sure James took me back a week later, and I ordered a boat of sushi to myself (most definitely pictured below). Their location is tucked away in the Dr. Phillips area, but worth the drive if you’re not close-by.

SAKARI SUSHI

This used to be my go-to spot when I lived in Winter Park. If you find yourself craving sushi after a long day of shopping in the Winter Park Village, this is the place to go. Located right next to regal cinemas, Sakari Sushi offers a cozy and modern atmosphere with some of the freshest sushi around town. One of my favorite rolls here is the Sakari Roll, packed with fresh tuna, avocado, and topped with a spicy mayo drizzle. They also offer bento boxes and other dishes if you’re dining with someone who isn’t into sushi (looking at you, boys).

Tip: Sakari Sushi has a really good happy hour with discounts on sushi and drinks, making it a perfect stop before catching a movie next door!

IZZIBAN SUSHI

If you’re looking for an affordable and fun sushi experience, Izziban Sushi is a great choice. With multiple locations in Orlando, this spot is known for its sushi specials and all you can eat options. It’s perfect if you’re in the mood to have a feast without breaking the bank. Their beauty and the beast roll is my absolute favorite — it's the perfect mix of spicy tuna, eel, and avocado, topped with a sweet and savory sauce.

Tip: Izziban’s happy hour has great discounts on sushi, sake, and small plates—perfect for a casual night out!

Are you hungry yet? Don’t worry, I am too. If you’re looking for your next sushi spot in Orlando, start with these, and you won’t be disappointed. And if you’re like James and Addison—well, there’s always chicken teriyaki.

Editor’s note: James had his feelings hurt after reading the blog for the first time, since he can’t enjoy the fish like he would want to. Another great option for both parties to get a large quantity of food is Maki Hibachi, located directly at the intersection of Orange and East Colonial.
