Content Management Systems (CMS)

The purpose of this activity was to learn and analyze more about CMS systems such as SquareSpace and Wix. By researching these we learned more about developing our upcoming website for a fictitious company, Reel Deal Tacos.

While my best practices come with Squarespace, this is the CMS platform I chose for Reel Deal Tacos. I chose this platform due to the fact I am comfortable with this, as my own site is on this CMS. From experience with other CMS’ they seem not as professional to me as Squarespace.

This is a very user friendly platform, and easy to navigate through. That is a main reason why I chose to launch Reel Deal Tacos with SquareSpace as well as being professional.

When it comes to finding templates and themes, it took me a while to choose one I was able to navigate well, and not become confused. After trial and error, I eventually found a basic layout I really enjoy. It is user friendly, and one of the top ones recommended by this platform. I wanted to go with a clean and simple look, and this website gets that job done

Some features I will leverage on is a simple and clean layout, which remains professional. I will also keep my focus on their design concepts as well as mine combined. Like said before, it is important to remember what your client wants, and not what you want.

Within my experience with CMS platforms, the number one platform I would not recommend would probably be WordPress. Even though this is a great source, while I used this for my first personal website and now I compare it to others, it doesn’t compare within a professional stand point, within my opinion.

No matter what you decide to use,  they all work great and get the job done. In the end, it matters what is most comfortable to you to develop your client’s needs.
